As previously announced, the HCI organization has made the difficult decision to discontinue Facilities Management Advisor, effective Oct. 1, 2026. Therefore, this is FMA‘s final post.
As the editor, I’ve been tasked with writing a farewell on behalf of our FMA team. But how does one say goodbye to a long-running publication, countless collaborators, and a community of FM professionals?
To be honest, I didn’t know. I put off writing this message as long as I could. Not because I was afraid or mournful (FMA had one heck of a run!), but because I wanted to write something meaningful, insightful, and heartfelt—something perfect.
For example, I wanted to say that facilities management is an essential, all-encompassing industry. Whether stationed in the boiler room or the boardroom, FM professionals help keep our facilities operational, efficient, and, above all else, safe.
I wanted to say that facilities managers have proven they can overcome any challenge, from COVID to RTO. These tireless professionals are unsung heroes, and they deserve a chorus of praise.
I wanted to say I have been amazed by the strong sense of community and mentorship in the FM industry. Facilities managers are passionate about the work they do. They strive to share their knowledge, tell their stories, and help others succeed.
I wanted to say there are exciting opportunities ahead in the industry. Futuristic tech like AI, clean energy solutions, and drones are taking off. As many FM veterans retire, new recruits will bring fresh perspectives and establish the next generation of professionals, ensuring FM remains in good hands.
I wanted to say all that and much more.
Ultimately, though, a proper farewell comes down to two simple words: Thank you.
Thank you to all the FM pros and PR gurus who’ve helped provide top-quality content for this publication. Your industry insights and contributed articles were invaluable, and I’ve cherished our partnerships.
